Happy 2 Months Since We Arrived in London

Hello All!

It's been 2 months since we arrived and we can't believe how fast it's gone! We've had so many cool experiences and learned so much teaching here and can't wait to see what the next 5 months will bring.

This week was long...or seemed to be.

I wasn't feeling great last weekend and Monday morning woke up sick.  I taught high school science Monday which didn't help the cold situation.  Tuesday through Friday I taught the lessons I planned in a year 6 class.  It was a long week for me.  Had some really awesome highs and some bad lows.  I barely had a voice for part of it, had a sore throat and really didn't feel well all week.  Friday I stayed to mark until I was kicked out because they had to lock the school.
I was so exhausted heading home...but when I got there I had the best surprise waiting for me :)  Matt had sent me a "get well soon" bouquet of my favourite flowers.
It made me feel so much better. He's the greatest <3

Sam didn't work Monday so she had a lazy day. Tuesday she taught year 1. Wednesday she didn't get called again so she came in to the school I was working in and was a "TA" in my class for most of the day, but helped out with an art project in another room for a bit.  It was so awesome having both of us in there! She had taught them before too so knew them a bit which also helped.  2 teachers in a class is how it should always be, it made the day so much easier.  That was a fun day. Thursday and Friday she was back at the school she taught at the week before.  She had a good couple days...even did a butterfly art project with year 1s.

Friday night we had a nice relaxing night...pizza and movies.

This weekend we had a great time.  First off, it was sunny and warm the whole weekend...it's feeling like spring here and it made us very happy.  We had so much more energy even though I wasn't feeling a 100% still.

Saturday we had a very normal day...we took our time getting up, had breakfast, did laundry, then got ready and headed out.  We walked into West Croydon

and did a bit of shopping...we tried on some really cool stuff

This is us...fitting in in our neighbourhood.
and we bought some stuff (which we didn't really need...oops).
We then headed home, put stuff away and then headed into Brixton to meet up with my friend Andrea for dinner and drinks.

We have very different tastes...
Water, Beer, and Cider
We had a great time catching up with Andrea (who is heading out backpacking around Europe for a few weeks with friends) before catching the bus back home.  When we got home we watched a movie then headed to bed.

Today, Sunday, was officially our 2 months since we arrived day and without even meaning to we ended up going to London Bridge, which is the first tourist thing we did in London so was very fitting.  We started our day with pancakes, nutella, and tea
Then got ready, and headed out for our day in London.
This is our train station

We may have had some time before our train came...
It was so warm today, almost 20 degrees!  So we spent most of it just in our tank tops...it was AWESOME!  We headed up to Camden Market again because we needed to get a couple things (we added to our bracelet collection).
After Camden Market we decided to head down to London Bridge because we didn't walk across it before...and that's when we realized that it was our first sightseeing thing we saw.  So we got down there, walked across the actual London Bridge (which is not as cool as the Tower Bridge, so we've decided that that one is London Bridge)
First Sunday of our time in London

2 months into being in London :)

then walked along the Thames to the Tower Bridge aka London Bridge.
We took a seat for a bit in the sunshine on our way.
We may have re-enacted some of our first pictures just for this purpose... Whoomp, there it is!

We got our jumping one today though :)

We got some sugared nuts which were delicious
Walked across
...pausing to sit and enjoy the sun for a bit

Found a phonebooth on our way to the train station...

Before heading back to the train for home.

We got some groceries on our way, then just enjoyed the sun for a bit before making awesome wraps for dinner.

We'll probably finish up the evening with a movie before heading to bed to get a good sleep for our next week of work.

We've been talking a lot about our next school break (the first 2 weeks of April) and have decided that we want to save our money for traveling in the summer so are going to stay in England for our break.  We're going to do a bunch of touristy stuff that needs some time (Harry Potter stuff, London Eye, London Dungeons, Tower of London, Notting Hill, biking Hyde Park, High Tea, etc), we also might head out to Brighton, Cambridge, Oxford, Stonehenge, and places like that.

We out.

Lisa and Sam
