Rollercoaster 2 weeks...Now residents of Tooting, UK

Hello all...

Sorry for the delayed post and it is going to be brief as we are using free wifi from a coffee shop (ours isn't set up yet).

We've had a crazy couple of weeks.
We decided on taking the place in Kennington, paid our deposit and first month's rent, went to move in last Friday and found out it was a scam. We lost 2200 pounds altogether, that sucked.
We were stressed about finding a new place and starting work Monday.
Ben and Laura were amazing for letting us stay as long as we did but we felt so bad for being there that long as it was so we moved our stuff to Meghan, Marina, Alex, and Cierra's place (also so grateful for them).
We found out on the Saturday morning that because our offer on the place in Tooting had been accepted that our deposit had held it for us for up to 7 days (and we were still within that time) so we told the agent that we would take it.  We had to scramble a bit to come up with the money to pay for the damage deposit and first month's rent, but we managed to (Thanks Momma Sharon for wiring Sam's money!)
Both of us started work Monday.  We met the agent, landlady, and third roommate (Antonia. Nurse from Milan, Italy) after work to figure out the details.
We were able to sign our tenancy agreement and move in on Wednesday, finally!
Our work weeks were both very interesting...
Sam had a couple great days and a couple not so great days.

My whole week was pretty good (took Friday off because I was really sick).

Both of us were offered positions and had trial days for those.
Sam's was a 3 day a week contract...Wed morning with year 5 and Wed afternoon, Thurs, Fri with reception.  She was there Wednesday and Thursday and the reception class was brutal; she felt unwelcomed and unwanted by the staff, and there was nothing prepared for her.  It was an easy decision to say no for her.
My trial day was very different.  My contract was for a maternity leave, full-time after February half-term until the end of school in late July. It was a year 4 class.  They were amazing and the school was wonderful.  I don't think I've taught such a nice class here, or at home for that matter.  I had a very hard time making my decision.  I ended up not taking it because it just didn't work for what I wanted out of my time here.  I would have meant very little travel time, and a ton more work for not much more pay.  The main reason I came back was to do more travelling, so I just felt like as great an experience as it would be, it just wasn't right for me this time.

Our flatmate, Antonia, is very nice.  We've had dinner with him and some interesting conversations (he doesn't have much English).

More to come soon. Details and pictures.
We get our internet in about a week.

Thanks for reading.
We out.
xoxo

Sam and Lisa
